<p>The Penn State Marketing Association created T-shirts with a picture of Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor with his head in his hands and the caption Terrelle <span style="font-weight: bold;">Cryer </span>on it. They planned to sell the T-shirts for the upcoming Big Ten Battle in Beaver Stadium on Saturday, before those bastards from the Fun Police stepped in and put a stop to it. Dammit.</p><p><br />
The picture was taken last season when Penn State beat Ohio State 13-6. The key play of the game was a Pryor fumble that led to Penn State's winning TD. That is when he was on the bench with his head in his hands. <br />
<br />
The reason that Nittany Lion fans were so happy about the failures of the Buckeye's QB is that Pryor spurned Penn State when they tried to recruit him. He said it was "<span style="font-style: italic;">too country</span>". Yeah, it's a great idea to piss off a rabid fanbase that you'll have to face every year kid. How's it working out for you so far? Dope.<br />

The only thing worse than Pryor's quotes is his play on the field. Pryor started last season as a freshman, but hasn't exactly been great. Yes, he is athletically talented, but so far he's not much of an actual QB. He's more dangerous when he's running out of the pocket than when he's actually sitting back there throwing the ball. He actually leads the Buckeyes in rushing with 554 yards, which tells you how bad the Ohio State offense is this year. Pryor has a big arm to get the ball down the field to his WRs, like Devier Posey, but he struggles with the short to intermediate routes. Why does that sound so familiar to a fan of a team that wears green with wings on their helmets? Oh well, it will come to me eventually.<br />

Penn State isn't much better offensively, but at least they have a few weapons. Daryll Clark and Evan Royster, who is the Big Ten conference's 2nd leading rusher, are better than anything the Buckeyes throw out there on offense.<br />
<br />
But the big story when 11th ranked Penn State hosts 15th ranked Ohio State is going to be the defenses. Both defenses are ranked 1-2 in the Big Ten conference in the four major defensive categories (rushing, passing, total defense and fewest points allowed). They are in the top 10 nationally in three of those categories and in the top 15 in pass defense. This game is <span style="font-weight: bold;">not</span> going to be a shoot-out. <br />

When Ohio State has the ball you should expect to see Penn State play it straight on defense. They will attempt to contain Pryor by keeping him in the pocket and force him to beat them with his arm. Expect to see LB Novarro Bowman play a spy role against Pryor. By the way, Bowman was the one who recovered that Pryor fumble last season. <br />
When Penn State has the ball everything will depend on how well the Nittany Lions offensive line can handle the tough Ohio State defensive line that ranks 6th nationally against the run. The Buckeyes have generated 20 sacks so far this year, while the Nittany Lions have only given up 10 all year. Protecting Clark and opening up some holes for the running game is imperative to a Penn State win.<br />

On other thing to consider is that Ohio State kicker Aaron Pettrey is out for the season after suffering a knee injury last Saturday against New Mexico State. His replacement comes down to inexperienced backup Ben Buchanan or 26-year-old walk-on Devin Barkley, who played five seasons in the MLS (that's one of those professional soccer leagues that nobody cares about because this is America). In tight defensive battles, special teams play can sometimes determine the outcome of a game. This is not good news for the Buckeyes.<br />
<br />
Even if I wasn't an alumni of The Pennsylvania State University (Class of 1990), I would still be picking Penn State to win this game. Another win for JoePa. It's going to be a hard-fought defensive battle, but Ohio State simply doesn't have enough offensive firepower to score many points. Penn State's offense isn't exactly a juggernaut, but they'll do enough to win the game for the home crowd that will be wearing white.<br />
<br />
Note: Somebody needs to tell Brent Mussberger that it's called a "<span style="font-weight: bold;">White Out</span>" when the fans all wear white shirts, not a "White <span style="font-weight: bold;">House</span>", like he announced while doing a game in Beaver Stadium earlier this year. Dope.<br />

<p>Penn State football fans you may know him as "Mr. Versatility" he is the football player who could do it all.</p><p> </p>
<p>He could do it all from playing Tight End, Offensive Line and even Defensive Line. Recently it was announced on the Baltimore Mariners website, that Mike Lucian following a great college career at Penn State, will be coming back to his hometown of Maryland to start his professional football career.</p>

Lucian is expected to make a big impact immediatly. I am very excited about this signing. This guy brings a big time resume, with BIG TIME college football experience with it. And lets also note he played at the highest competition level in college as well.<br />

After watching a couple of Baltimore Mariners AIFA arena football games last season, I can tell you the competition is tough. Picking up Lucian is a move that helps the Mariners take that fabled step into recognition and another step up the ladder for that elusive AIFA Championship.<br />

<p>As an alumnus of the great Pennsylvania State University, I just may be a little biased when I tell you that Joe Paterno is, without question, the greatest college football coach <strong>ever</strong>. </p><div> </div>
<div>Joe Paterno, or "JoePa",<strong> is</strong> Penn State. He holds several NCAA football records, including most victories, most bowl appearances, most bowl wins and he has more undefeated seasons than another other coach in college football history. How can you possibly argue against stats like that? </div>

<div>JoePa joined head coach Rip Engle's staff at Penn State as an assistant coach in 1950. He took over as head coach in 1966 and has accumulated a 386-128-3 record in his career. Now at the age of 82, JoePa is in his 60th season at Penn State, which is the record for most seasons for any football coach at any university. In his 43 seasons as head coach, he has 37 winning seasons, which ties him with Bear Bryant for the most in history. He has also had 29 finishes in the Top 10 national rankings. He even turned down offers to coach in the NFL twice. The Pittsburgh Steelers offered him the head coaching job in 1969, that eventually went to Chuck Noll and he also turned down an offer to coach the New England Patriots in 1972. </div>

<div>JoePa has more bowl victories (23) than any coach in history and also tops the list of bowl appearances with 35. He is the only coach who has won each of the current four major bowls - Rose, Orange, Fiesta and Sugar - as well as the Cotton Bowl at least once. Under JoePa, Penn State has won at least three bowl games in each decade since 1970. </div>

<div>Overall JoePa has led Penn State to two national championships (1982 and 1986) and five undefeated, untied seasons (1968, 1969, 1973, 1986 and 1994). Four of hose unbeaten teams won major bowl games but were screwed out of the national championship by moronic voters, stupid Bowl Championship Series (BCS) rules, or just by the ridiculous haters out there.</div>

<div>Anyone who doesn't like Joe Paterno should look in the mirror. It's like the line you feed to a woman you want to dump; "It's not you, it's me". If you have a problem with Joe Paterno, it's <strong>you</strong>. He not only wins games, he produces <strong>student</strong>-athletes. JoePa isn't just a football coach to his players, he is a mentor. He stresses the value of a good education and being accountable for your actions. He teaches his players right and wrong, not just wins and losses. According to the NCAA's 2008 Graduation Rates Report, Penn State's graduation success rate of 78% easily exceeds the 67% Division I average. Unlike other college football coaches, JoePa practices what he preaches. He will regularly suspend players for bad grades and bad behavior. I don't think those SEC schools even consider a recruit unless they have a rap sheet.</div>

<div>JoePa is also renowned for his charitable contributions to academics at Penn State. While his $1 million salary may seem excessive to some, it's a bargain compared to other college coaches who make upwards of $4 million or more. JoePa has contributed over $4 million towards various departments at Penn State over the years. He even helped to raise $13.5 million for the 1997 expansion of the university library and the new wing was named the Paterno Library in his honor. You just don't hear about things like that regarding other college football coaches do you?</div>

<div>In the early part of this decade JoePa came under fire for having four losing seasons in five years from 2000 through 2004. That sort of thing never happened before and the inevitable questions about his age began to be asked. The president of the university and the athletic director even paid a visit <span>to Joe</span>Pa's home to ask him to quietly retire. He promptly threw them out on their butts. He silenced those critics (Dopes?) by going 11-1 in 2005, winning the Orange Bowl and finishing #3 in the final rankings. He was back.</div>

<div>JoePa has his detractors. Misinformed idiots mostly. There were the people who criticized him when he joined the Big Ten. Those people fail to acknowledge that JoePa tried to get the Eastern football powers to create a Big East conference for athletics. Not until after Penn State left for the Big Ten, did the other eastern schools see the light. He obviously didn't join the Big Ten for his football program. He did it to help all of the other sports programs at Penn State that didn't have a high profile. Then there was the storm of negative reaction when JoePa allowed a Nike "swoosh" to be put on the Penn State football uniforms. This was a big deal since Penn State's football uniforms are as bland as possible. There is no team logo and there are no players' names on the jerseys. When he allowed a corporate logo to be placed on the jerseys, the cries of "sellout" rang out. The explanation was as simple as the minds of those leveling the criticism. JoePa explained that by allowing that corporate logo on the football jersey, he could help fund every other sport at the university. Yes, the football program makes so much money for Penn State it literally pays for every other sport to exist.</div>

<div>JoePa also helped bring instant replay into college football. Remember the image of Joe Paterno in 2002 running down the field chasing referee Dick Honing after an overtime loss to Iowa? The video replays clearly showed that Penn State had gotten screwed, when a WR was ruled out of bounds on a catch. Just a few weeks later, the same WR Tony Johnson, made a catch that would have put Penn State in range for a game winning field goal, but he was ruled out of bounds....again. Paterno's very loud and very public objections led the Big Ten to become the first college football conference to adopt a form of instant replay. Within a year almost every other conference was using replay. </div>

<div>JoePa has also been screaming for years for college football to institute some sort of playoff system to determine the national champion. Being the<strong> only</strong> sport on the planet that does not determine its championship with some sort of playoff system, you would think it would get done. Unfortunately the greed of the big conferences isn't going to let that happen anytime soon. The current BCS set-up allows a few big conferences to control all of the TV revenue and therefore, the game of college football. When asked what his plan would be JoePa simply stated that, "<em>I'm just a football coach. I'll leave that to you smart guys to figure it out." </em>I just hope he's still around when they finally stop all the corruption in college football and institute that playoff system.</div>

<div>Joe Paterno is signed to be the head coach at Penn State for the next three years. At that time he may want another extension. By then JoePa will be 85 years old, but with a hall of fame career like his (He is already enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame), who the hell has the right to tell him when he should stop coaching. He is the best there ever was and probably ever will be. He will stop coaching whenever he wants to and that's just fine with me. </div>

He demonstrates good footwork in all phases of blocking, and shows the ability to pull from the center position. He possesses very good strength and with good leg drive. He has quick, strong hands and adjusts to the ball very well. He shows superb body control and he gets good separation out of his cuts. He has good feet and body control to go along with his jumping, cutting and change-of-direction skills. He has excellent vision and sees the holes open quickly. He has an explosive second gear and he has excellent balance. He has the moves to spin and bounce in order to avoid tackles and is difficult to wrap up. He is an impressive athlete with game game-changing ability.</p>

He has prototypical size and excellent arm strength that can zip the ball down field and fit the ball into tight coverage. <span style=""> </span>He has shown the presence to find secondary receivers when he <span class="GramE">is forced</span> out of the pocket, and can make plays when the pocket collapses. He has excellent accuracy on all his passes, and he will lead his receivers in order for them to make a play after the catch. He has a very quick release and he shows the composure to stand in the pocket when <span class="GramE">pressured</span> and beat the rush with a quick pass.</p>

He shows quickness taking on and sustaining blocks vs. blitzing linebackers. He can stop there charge and knock them back to where they came from. This is a tough, aggressive offensive lineman with a mean streak and a desire to finish blocks. He should benefit from a red shirt year, after which he should develop into a solid starter.</p>

He is an aggressive run blocker who looks for second defenders down the field and finishes off his blocks with authority. Jones is a strong football player who will not be an immediate starter or impact player but eventually he should become a solid starter.</p>

He can plow his way into the backfield and cause havoc and does a good job of getting into a gap and plugging it up. When he uses his <span class="GramE">hands</span> he can knock a blocker on his back and be a very disruptive player who is very difficult to move backwards. He can bull rush the passer and collapse the pocket around him. <span class="SpellE">Hailes</span> is a big kid who is a two-gap run stuffer but can cause problems in the backfield on passing plays.</p>

He displays good lateral movement in order to side-step blocks and shows a good feel for the game. He takes good angles in pursuit and closes on the ball carrier quickly. He is a physical tackler who gets into space and can read and react to the play. Depending on needs, <span class="SpellE">Baublitz</span> could play on either side of the ball as he also played tight end in high school, but defensive end seems like the more logical position for him in college.</p>

He shows good acceleration and makes <span class="GramE">a lot of</span> plays behind the line of scrimmage. He is a strong and explosive tackler with size and speed with very good versatility. He is able to play both the inside and strong side linebacker spots. He could also be a star on special teams.</p>

<p>"Talor Battle rushes down the court as fast as his body allows him to. With very little time left places up the lay-up... it goes in it goes in!!! Penn State beat Illinois for the second time in the same season. Ohh wow was that a game." Your probably thinking what the first game like... well i'll be happy to tell you. In the first game the final score was 38-33. Now tell me that that sounds weird. Even though they beat Illinois twice Purdue once and #9 in the country at the time Michigan State at Michigan State they still didn't make it. They still didn't make the NCAA tournament. Did I tell you that Michigan State made it to the National Championship? But the Nittany Lions stayed strong they would not give up. After the last team got picked to play in the NCAA tournament Big Ten coach of the year Ed DeCellis said to his team "We now get to compete for a NIT Championship" They didn't give up. There first game was a little bit shaky but ended up beating George Mason 77-73 in Over Time. There second game was much better when the beat Rhode Island 83-72. Then they traveled to Florida and beat Florida 71-62 what a game that was. Then it was time to play in the apple MSG stadium. They would play Notre Dame first. I was at the game and boy did Jamelle Cornley stop Luke Harangody or what. In the first half Luke Harangody was shut down but in the second half he got better but couldn't lead Notre Dame to a win so Penn State would end up playing Baylor in the NIT championship game. On April 2, 2009 Penn State beat Baylor for there first NIT championship ever. Talor Battle lead this Nittany Lion team all season and now they are Champions they might not be National but they are Champions.</p><p>Espn.com</p>
